Thermage uses radiofrequency to heat the dermis and tighten the skin surface, while Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound to reach deeper layers, including the SMAS, for more lift. At Egg Clinic in Sinsa, Gangnam, the doctor recommends one or both depending on whether your main concern is loose, crepey skin or sagging; both usually need no downtime and build results over months.

What are Thermage and Ultherapy?
Thermage is a radiofrequency treatment. It spreads heat evenly through the dermis and the fibrous layers beneath, tightening collagen across a broad area and stimulating new collagen. This mainly improves skin firmness, texture and crepiness, including on the delicate eyelids with a dedicated eye tip.
Ultherapy uses micro-focused ultrasound delivered to precise depths, including the SMAS, the muscular layer that is also addressed in surgical facelifts. It creates tiny heated points that contract and remodel tissue, giving more of a lifting effect on the brows, cheeks, jawline and under the chin. Ultherapy also uses ultrasound imaging so the practitioner can see the layers being treated.

Which is right for me?
- Mainly loose, thin or crepey skin: Thermage is often preferred
- Mainly sagging jowls, brows or under-chin: Ultherapy is often preferred
- Eyelid skin tightening: Thermage with the eye tip
- Both laxity and poor skin quality: a combination may be suggested
- Thin faces: the doctor may favour Thermage to avoid volume loss
Neither treatment is suitable during pregnancy, and Thermage is not performed with a pacemaker or implanted electronic device. Very heavy sagging may respond better to thread lifting or surgery. The doctor examines your skin and explains the options at consultation.

Can Thermage and Ultherapy be combined?
Yes. Because the two devices work at different depths, many patients have them together or a few weeks apart: Ultherapy for structural lift and Thermage for surface tightening and skin quality. Combining them can give a more complete result than either alone, although it increases the cost and the total treatment time. The doctor decides the order, areas and energy levels so the plan suits your face, and you can compare published options on the premium lifting price list.

Frequently asked questions
Is Thermage or Ultherapy better?
Neither is better overall; they do different jobs. Thermage mainly tightens and improves skin quality, while Ultherapy lifts deeper tissue. The doctor recommends based on your concern.
Which hurts more, Thermage or Ultherapy?
Both cause deep heat sensations. Many people find Ultherapy slightly more uncomfortable over bony areas, but numbing and energy adjustments help with both.
Can I have Thermage and Ultherapy on the same day?
Yes, they are often combined in one session or a few weeks apart. The doctor sets the order and energy levels.
How long do Thermage and Ultherapy last?
Both typically last around 12 months or more, depending on age, skin and lifestyle.
Which is better for the jawline?
For sagging jowls Ultherapy is often chosen, while Thermage helps tighten loose skin along the jawline. Many people benefit from both.
How much do Thermage and Ultherapy cost in Seoul?
Prices depend on the device, area and shot count, so the doctor confirms the plan at consultation. See the published premium lifting price list.
