What is PRP therapy?
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. A small amount of blood is drawn from your arm and spun in a centrifuge to separate the plasma that is rich in platelets. Platelets release growth factors involved in tissue repair, so placing this concentrate into the skin or scalp is thought to support collagen production and healing.
On the face, PRP is injected or applied with microneedling to improve skin tone, fine lines and texture. On the scalp, it is used for thinning hair and early hair loss, as described on our PRP for hair loss page. Because it comes from your own blood, the risk of allergy is low.

What are the results and recovery like?
After facial PRP you may have redness, small injection marks or slight swelling for one to two days, and occasional small bruises. After scalp PRP the scalp may feel tender for a day. Changes are gradual: skin often looks fresher within a few weeks as collagen builds, and hair changes are usually assessed over several months. A series of about three sessions roughly a month apart is common, followed by maintenance if you are happy with the response.
