What is jaw Botox?
Jaw Botox is an injection of botulinum toxin into the masseter muscles at the back of the jaw. These muscles can become large through genetics, teeth grinding, clenching or heavy chewing, which makes the lower face look wide or square. Relaxing them causes the muscle to slim gradually, softening the jaw angle into a more tapered shape.

Who is a good candidate for jaw Botox?
- A square or wide lower face from bulky masseter muscles
- Clenching or grinding, especially at night

- Fullness below the ears from salivary glands
If the width comes mainly from bone or fat, Botox will have limited effect and the doctor will explain other options. It is not advised during pregnancy or breastfeeding or with certain neuromuscular conditions. Very thin faces may need lower doses to avoid a hollow look under the cheekbones.
