What is Hyalase?
Hyalase is a brand of hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. Because most modern facial fillers are made of hyaluronic acid, hyaluronidase can be injected into the treated area to dissolve filler that looks uneven, overdone or out of place. The body then absorbs the broken-down material naturally.
It is also used by doctors as part of the response to rare filler complications. Hyalase only works on hyaluronic acid fillers; it does not dissolve calcium-based, PLLA or permanent fillers. The same treatment is described on our filler dissolving injections page.
Who is Hyalase for?
- Lumps, bumps or uneven results after hyaluronic acid filler
- Overfilled lips or cheeks
- Puffiness or a blue tint from under-eye filler
- Filler that has migrated, for example above the lip line
- Anyone who wants to reset before new filler
Hyalase is not suitable for people with a known allergy to hyaluronidase, and people allergic to bee or wasp stings may need special caution, so tell the doctor about any allergies. It should be postponed during pregnancy or with infection in the area. If you do not know which filler you had, the doctor will assess the area and may use ultrasound or a careful test approach before treating.

What happens after Hyalase?
Mild swelling, redness or tenderness is common and usually settles within one to three days. Most of the dissolving effect is visible within 24–48 hours, although the area can take a little longer to look fully settled. Some cases, especially with dense or long-standing filler, need a second session. If you plan new filler, doctors usually advise waiting around one to two weeks so the tissue settles and the result can be judged accurately.
How the treatment works
-
